After frustrating experience with OpenWRT and DD-WRT, I eventually flashed Tomato firmware into my Dell TrueMobile wireless router. Need a bit settings to get some lights on, but even without additional settings, it works great! Best of all, QoS worked perfect. Now I can make VoIP phone calls, Web browsing, P2P download and streaming at the same time, and everyone is happy.
Tomato firmware does not officially support Dell TrueMobile 2300, but it works well.

Which binary did you flash with in the tomato package?
Should I use tomato.trx or one of the other files?
Thanks!
I used the standard tomato. There are two editions of Tomato, Standard and ND (New Driver) edition. Dell Truemobile is indeed very old. I wish there are editions for older hardware as well.
But my Truemobile 2300 freezes. Sometimes once a month, sometimes once a week. I guess its hardware is not stable enough to stand the heat as an Internet router since it freezes even with the stock Dell firmware and DD-WRT. Now it is replaced with an Asus 520GU with Tomato ND 1.25.
Hello.
I recently flashed my Dell Truemobile 2300 with Tomato 1.28 using the .trx file. (The standard file wouldn't load.) For the last few weeks, it has been working.
Today, however, I discovered I am unable to access the GUI. I tried the IP address I assigned the router, 192.168.1.1 and my.router. I am able to telnet to the router using an older computer, but I am not familiar with command prompts.
I am curious to know if you (or anyone else) knows the command prompt to reset the router back to either the native Tomato 1.28 or some other firmware.
As you might expect, I cannot find much on the internet and would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Linus,
I am surprise someone is still playing with this old router. After going through a dozen of them, getting the same issue as you have, I believe this router has hardware defects that does not worth spending any more time on it. I have trashed all of them.
